The Gift & Loyalty App uses QR codes to process transactions on smartphones.

October 23, 2012 — Boulder, CO — Smart Transaction Systems (STS), provider of innovative gift card & loyalty card solutions, has released a new Android version of their Gift & Loyalty App. The app uses QR codes on the back of cards to process transactions and was previously available for Apple’s mobile touch-screen products.

“Android users account for more than fifty percent of the smartphone market, so we’re happy to be able to offer this solution to these users,” said Ray Clopton, President of STS. “Our free Android app is ideal for small business owners who already use their smart phone to process credit cards.”

Users simply focus the smartphone camera on the QR code on the back of the gift cards. The app automatically scans the card and captures the card data. Customers receive e-receipts via email.

The Gift & Loyalty App can help businesses shorten lines during the busier holiday season, when many of their customers are waiting only to purchase gift cards. The app is available from the Google Play Store.
