Smart Transaction Systems announces gift and loyalty software for high-speed transaction processing on the VeriFone Omni 3750

New software allows merchants to speed checkout lines and run credit, debit, gift, and loyalty card transactions all on one terminal.

Boulder, Colorado March 14, 2005 – Smart Transaction Systems (STS) a provider of stored-value card programs, including gift card and customer loyalty programs, announced the integration of its programs onto the VeriFone Omni 3750 terminal. The Omni 3750 is a “multi-application” terminal that makes it easy for merchants to process gift cards, loyalty cards, credit cards, debit cards, and checks through one point of sale terminal.

STS achieves very rapid transaction processing by using an integrated Ethernet port on the Omni 3750, which makes it possible for merchants to process their gift and loyalty transactions with STS via the internet. Merchants that have broadband service, such as DSL or cable, can immediately begin processing gift and loyalty cards over a lightning-fast, always-on connection. An optional WiFi module is available for merchants that need greater mobility. Transactions are completed in three to four seconds as compared to 10 to 15 seconds for a traditional dial-up transaction. For merchant locations that do not have internet access, the terminal is also capable of processing transactions over a regular phone line.

The Omni 3750 also makes it easier for each of the merchant’s vendors (credit card processing banks, check services, and gift card providers) to operate their own software independently of one another. This allows the merchant to maintain maximum flexibility and control over which vendor they use for each type of service. The ATM-style interface and large backlit display also simplify clerk training and minimize costly errors.
